Supplementary Notice
Anemometer Mast at Pentre Hardd Farm

I confirm that the purpose of this planning application is to seek consent for the erection of a temporary mast to measure the wind speed. This is the first stage in evaluating the viability of producing renewable energy at Pentre Hardd Farm. Depending on the results of the wind monitoring exercise, a planning application for a turbine(s) may follow. This would include an assessment of the impact that any proposal would have on many aspects including visual, noise and wildlife.

It is my intention, at this stage, to develop the site privately rather than lease the ground out to a recognised energy producer.

The location is not a large area and can only accommodate 1 medium sized turbine (approximate height of 45m) or 2 smaller ones. The temporary anemometer mast at 45m will give an indication of the approximate height – should it of course be granted permission.

The position of the anemometer mast is not necessarily the exact location of any turbine(s). I will endeavour to do my utmost within the parameters determined by the planning authority and the turbine supplier to situate any structure with all possible consideration of people’s visual sensitivities.

Under current guidelines I am looking to achieve a maximum rating of 500KW and not the megawatt output of large scale developments. The electricity generated would be used to supply the farm and the surplus would be fed into the grid.

I am unable to provide any further details and regret that I must qualify that this information is only correct at the time of writing. This is because the process takes a long time and will be dependant on a number of factors, in particular should the government review its renewable energy policy then the proposals may have to be reassessed.

I am sure that there are many other questions that people would like addressed but this is as far as the proposals have progressed.
I give my assurance that to the best of my ability the correct planning procedures will be adhered to at all times and, as more information becomes available, I shall post it on the Llanedi website.
