When Santa came to Llanedi PDF Print E-mail

Santa visited Llanedi at 7pm on Wednesday 22-12-10. Traditional Carols were sung by the assembled Villagers and the children to the fine accompaniment of Ian Lewis on the organ. Santa arrived with the usual ringing of sleigh bells and cheers.

Thanks to Tony Matthews for his time and effort in decorating and constructing (along with Santa's little helpers) of the 'Grotto'. Andrea Rees as Masterchef in the kitchen preparing the festive Hotdogs!!

Also to Denis & Pat Sheehan and other members of the Pig Roast Commitee who assisted at this successful event held for the first time at the village Church Hall. A very appropriate venue.

Theft from Car 14/12/09 PDF Print E-mail

Message from our PCSO.................

Hello Nick,

Would it be possible for you post a message on the website asking for information please? Last Monday 14/12/2009, when the children from the school were practising their concert in the Church someone has broken into one of the teacher’s car and stolen a handbag. Can you ask on the website if anyone has any information and also highlight the fact that people do not leave valuables in the car. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

 Merry Christmas

Stephen

2 Scams being used locally PDF Print E-mail

"The first:s public protection and finance departments are now warning people not to give out any personal details.

Head of Public Protection Philip Davies said:

"If anyone receives one of these calls, or receives a visit at their home from anyone claiming to be giving council tax rebates, do not give out any details, and report the incident to us or to the police."

A spate of bogus calls has occurred in recent weeks in other parts of Wales and are now increasing in Carmarthenshire.

The bogus caller states that he or she is from the council and that the person has overpaid council tax which needs to be refunded.

s bank details which they say is needed to make the repayment.

Mr Davies added:

"At least one person we know of has already given their details without first checking with us whether or not the caller was genuine."

A person in Carmarthenshire has been conned out of giving their bank details by a bogus caller.

The case is one of a number now being reported where callers have asked people for their bank details on the pretext that they have overpaid their council tax, and are due for a refund.

Carmarthenshire

They then ask for the person

Others have thankfully reported them to us without giving out their bank details."

We are urging everyone to be cautious so that they dont get conned by this scam.

The Second:

TAXPAYERS in Carmarthenshire are being warned about a scam that could see their bank accounts cleared of money.

Fraudsters are sending out letters claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs urging taxpayers to contact them to claim tax refunds.

The letter, with an official heading, says that the Tax File Number is valid for only 24 hours for security reasons and emphasises the need for confidentiality.

Carmarthenshire County Council head of public protection Philip Davies said:

"T he email, link and form looks quite authentic and people will provide personal information if they think they can get a refund from HMRC.

"

If you look closely at the string when you use the link you'll see that there is a '.com' site being used. It would not appear on an authentic HMRC website.  This is where the personal information ends up and personal details are sold on or a bank account suddenly empties."

Llanedi Oil Consortium – Ordering Process

Just to clarify the process: please supply the information requested on the pro-forma below to the person indicated in the schedule for the month in question. This can be done by e-mail, or through copying the form and delivering by hand. Please don’t rely on telephoning, as messages don’t always get passed on!

Orders will be placed on, or around, the 10th of the month

The December order will be placed on or around the 3rd.

If you miss placing an order in time, and desperately need oil, the suggestion is that you order the minimum quantity from a supplier to keep you going until the next Consortium order is scheduled.

Thanks, Nick Samuel
